According to the dust jacket "Cuthbert and his friend Eli have decided to go on an exploring trip down the Saskatchewan River, armed with the most modern weapons, camping equipment and canoes. Shortly after beginning the trip they meet with a mysterious Scotch Canadian boy whom they persuade to join their expedition.
